He had one of the brightest Hollywood careers in the eighties and his name was well recognized among the elite crowds of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. From around the globe, Michael J. Fox was the guy everyone loved to watch regardless of the role that he played. Now, he is forced to play the role that Parkinson's disease gave him and he's definitely winning rave reviews for the way he's handled it.

Michael J. Fox began found his start with a huge television role. Gaining immediate success with Family Ties playing the part of Alex P. Keaton in 1982, the show ran from 1982 until 1989. Teenage girls wanted to date him and teenage boys wanted to be him. It was a win-win for the show's producers and soon, Fox was playing in the highly successful Back to the Future Trilogy.

As Marty McFly, teenagers dreamed about what the future might be like and planned for their own walking in Fox's footsteps. Again, teenagers wanted him to be their "new best friend". His success was once again phenomenal.

When Michael J. Fox was on Family Ties, he won three Emmy awards and a Golden Globe. However, the success he found as Mike Flaherty in Spin City was equally as rewarding. Fox won an Emmy, three Golden Globes, and two Screen Actor Guild Awards. He was at the top of his profession.

The onset of Fox's Parkinson's Disease actually came earlier than some may have thought once they discovered the battle Fox had ahead of him. Its first appearance showed up on the set of Doc Hollywood in 1990 and he was diagnosed in 1991. He officially disclosed his condition in 1998 before taking an early retirement in 2000.

Michael J. Fox is married to Tracy Pollan and they have four children. Together, they continue to battle the disease that threatens to claim one of America's favorite actors.
