If you're a vampire fan, then Stephen Moyer may have caught your interest lately. He plays Bill Compton, the sexy vampire 173-year-old vampire and love interest to the main character, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) in HBO's series, True Blood. This series, set in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana (actually the Santa Monica Mountains northwest of Los Angeles) has captured America's imagination, with a record viewing of its second season premier on 14 June 2009.

Moyer was born Stephen John Emergy on 11 October 1969 in Brentwood, Essex, England. He is a graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and he became Brentwood Theatre's first patron in October 2007. He supported their "Reaching Out, Building On" campaign to help fund the 2008 completion of their backstage facilities. After a two-year stint with the Royal Shakespeare Company, he toured the world playing Romeo.

Moyer has been actively working from the 1980s, with roles in mostly television production. He had parts in Conjugal Rites (1993), Men Only (2001), Ravenswood (2006) and many more productions, with his latest part in Tribes of October, with filming beginning summer of 2009.

Not much is known about Moyer's personal life other than he has a son, Billy, born in 2000 and a daughter, Lilac, born in 2002. Moyer and their mother, a writer, separated two years ago and the children live mostly in London with her. Currently, Moyer confirmed that he was dating his character's love interest, Anna Paquin, which adds some "true lust" to the television love connection. Representatives for Moyer and Paquin confirmed on 6 August 2009 that the couple was engaged.
