Denzel Washington was born in 1954. He has been an award-winning actor and a director during his entertainment career. He has won countless awards winning the Golden Globe and an Academy Award not once but twice.

Denzel Washington is of Cuban and African-American decent. His father was an ordained Pentecostal minister and he is a dedicated Christian. When he was a child, his parents divorced and during the divorce sent Denzel and his sister to a boarding school.

Washington was an athlete and he played sports while in school. He attended the University of Oregon but dropped out. He went on to get his B.A. from Fordham University. He graduated in 1977 with a degree in drama and journalism.

Denzel’s acting debut would take place in 1977 in the made-for-television movie Wilma. He would later earn a spot on a recurring role on St. Elsewhere from 1982 until 1988. Then, the bright lights and big screen came calling. Denzel Washington was on his way to fame and success.
