There are many actors who have started their career in television and then succeeded to gain fame on the big screen. One such film actor is George Clooney. He has a lot of fame and a lot of success but if that didn’t spoil him then being voted the "Sexiest Man Alive" not once but twice by People Magazine may have done the trick.

George Clooney was born in Lexington, Kentucky. His mom was a beauty queen and his father was in the entertainment business in various areas of journalism. Related to Debby Boone, Clooney may have had several relatives who dabbled in show business and entertainment.

Clooney attended high school at Augusta High School. He graduated in 1979. He then tried out for the Cincinnati Reds before he attended Northern Kentucky University and then the University of Cincinnati.

He took a part on the ever-popular television show ER and his claim to fame was etched in stone. While he was still a cast member of ER, George Clooney films begin to mount up and included Out of Sight, Batman and Robin (he played Batman), One Fine Day and others. He left ER in 1999.

His movie credits have started to pile up to where it is very hard to keep up. Clooney doesn’t have a problem. He has been wildly successful in his role on the Ocean’s flicks and in 2006; he was nominated for "Best Director" and "Best Original Screenplay" for Good Night, Good Luck.

And then there’s the "Sexiest Man Alive" nomination. People has only had two other winners voted the sexiest man alive. Brad Pitt secured it twice and Richard Gere enjoyed the fame twice as well.

Today, George Clooney is very vocal in his political views. He openly backs candidates for elections and he has been very opinionated about the war in Iraq.
