There are plenty of great athletes out in the world that will secure various claims of success but few will have the records that William "Bill" Bradley was able to secure during his career. Bill Bradley’s basketball career took him to places few will ever go in the world of sports. One such place was the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Bill Bradley was born in 1943 in Missouri. He had a ball in his hand from an early age and by the time that he was in the fourth grade, he was playing basketball with the passion of a player headed places.
When he was in high school, Bradley scored over 3,000 points. An excellent student, it didn’t surprise the school officials when seventy-five scholarship offers poured in. The school that won William Bradley’s nod of approval was one that certainly deserved it.
Bradley chose Princeton and his college career was underway. He was All-American three times and he became the National Player of the Year in 1965. He was the first basketball player to win the coveted James E. Sullivan Award for being a top amateur athlete.
Bradley went on to play basketball professionally. First, he played in Italy and later he came back to the states to play for the New York Knicks. He retired in 1977 and was later inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
In 2000, William "Bill" Bradley took on the race for the Presidential nomination. He ran in the 2000 primaries and did have the ability to gain some notable support. However, he didn’t secure the nomination.
Currently, Bradley is an investment banker and consultant. He also wrote a book in March of 2007. The New American Story is written by William Bradley and continues to prove that he can do anything that he sets his mind to do. He has lived and continues to live the American dream.
