He was born into a life of privilege but he lived a life of torment. David Kennedy was the fourth child out of the eleven that were Robert Kennedy children. He would see his father's assassination and would begin using drugs socially soon after his father's death.
It is hard for anyone to guess when the real problems began in David's life. He was in an accident with an older brother and because of an injury he sustained in the accident, soon began to use pain pills before heroin became his drug of choice.
The seventies were wild and careless for David Kennedy especially after his move to New York City. He was involved with a British actress, suffered two overdoses and basically just lived the high life associated with rampant drug use.
David was a writer and he had a six month opportunity with Atlantic Monthly Magazine prior to his overdose in 1984. However, David Kennedy, while appearing to get his life together on the outside, had addiction to fight.
After spending some time in a rehab prior to Easter in 1984, he left for Palm Beach to meet family members for the holidays. However, his fate was set in stone as his hard partying began. On April 25, 1984, David Kennedy was found on the floor of his hotel room at the Palm Beach Brazilian Court Hotel. He was dead from a drug over-dose at twenty-eight years old.
