Born in 1981 in Mississippi and raised in Louisiana, it's hard to believe the deep religious roots that Britney Spears has in her family. She was raised Southern Baptist but she has exhibited some of the worst public behavior of young artists today and deemed by many as an unfit mother. Still, she is a superstar and some believe, one of the best musical talents of her era.

Britney Spears has charted hit after hit. Her debut album Baby One More Time was released in January 1999 and soon became a Billboard Top 100 hit. Her second album Oops!I Did it Again was released in 2000 to eager fans who couldn't wait to have another Britney album. She had fame on her heels.

Britney Spears began her career as a role model before she thumbed her nose up at the very people who supported her. She decided to be a diva in the industry. She married Kevin Federline in 2004 and the couple had two children. They divorced and the media frenzy began. The custody battle between Spears and Federline is ongoing and Federline seems to be the better parent suited for raising children given the public display of Britney-bad behavior.

With over 83 million records sold worldwide, the Recording Industry Association of America has Britney Spears ranked among the best female artists in music history. Coming in at number eight, Spears is a mainstay in music history.

With her November 2003 album In the Zone, her hit Toxic won her a first Grammy. In October of 2007, Gimme More promised fans all the Britney-excitement they could stand.

Today, Britney continues to battle the paparazzi and finds reasons and ways to taunt them. She continues to run with her girlfriends in the industry that is notorious for partying into the wee hours. She also seeks custody of her two sons.
