Allison Iraheta ( 1992 - )  Category ( Singers ) [suggest a correction]

Allison Iraheta was born on 27 April 1992 in Los Angeles, California. She is an American singer of Salvadoran descent, who won the reality television competition Quinceañera and finished fourth on the eighth season of American Idol in 2009. This Los Angeles native has appeared in a few commercials and lists volleyball, soccer and running as a few of her favorite activities. She sang the song "Natural Woman" as part of her initial audition and chose "Alone" by Heart for her semifinal performance in Idol.

She continued to advance on Idol by perfectly playing into her rock star persona. Judge Simon Cowell said she was the only hope for a female to come out on top of season eight. This may have been true, but the dream ended at the final four to the shock of that week's musical mentor, Slash, who commented, "Allison didn't deserve to be voted off so soon. She has amazing potential."

As the youngest contestant on the 2009 season of American Idol, Iraheta stated, "I've been wanting to audition since 9, since I was that little. I had my face by that TV screen and wishing I was on the show. It would have been the same. I would've still wanted it as much as I do now." Her scratchy voice, which is mature for her age, is part of a style that has developed over her singing career in shopping malls and parties for family members since she was a youngster. Likened to Kelly Clarkson (who is a Iraheta fan), her vocals also are reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt.

After her appearance on Idol during Rock Week, when she was eliminated, jury member Paula Abdul stated, "If they ever do a biopic on Janis Joplin, you've got the role." Iraheta sang Joplin's "Cry Baby," and she seemed to put her all into it during her final performance on elimination night. Many fans are expecting her first album, and jury members suggested that she perform with Idol favorite, Adam Lambert. Lambert and Iraheta performed a duet that same week with Foghat's "Slow Ride." The performance brought the house down.
