He would become credited for being a pioneer among blues musicians and particularly for his work in conquering the harmonica. Junior Wells was born Amos Blackmore and he would live to play with some of the most extraordinary musical talents.
In 1934, Junior Wells was born in Memphis, Tennessee but he would spend most of his life in Chicago and Arkansas. He would go on to play in Chicago with the greats of the day including Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters and later The Rolling Stones and Van Morrison. He was a remarkable bluesy harmonica player and those in the music business knew the name of Junior Wells.
Made famous by his songs Little By Little and Messin with the Kid, Wells had a cameo appearance in the Blues Brothers 2000 movie. The movie was a slated 1998 film but the movie would not be released until after his death. Sadly, the debut was only weeks after the death of the late and definitely great talent of Junior Wells.
Many of the Junior Wells notable songs were included on his 1965 Hoodoo Man Blues album where many believe that the songs included on the album relate largely to the music once played in the blues bars of Chicago. Junior Wells died from lymphoma.
