Charles Davis Daniel was born in 1856 to a family in Alabama. At the end of the Civil War, Charles's father decided to move the family to Brazil where Charles would spend the next seventeen years.
The family would move back to the states in 1872 settling in Texas. Charles's father would die a few years after the family settled in Texas. His family would then be forced to rely on him for support.
Charles Davis Daniel became a preacher and then entered Baylor University. He became committed to his studies specifically Latin, Spanish and Greek. On November 4, 1883, Charles became an ordained preacher. He graduated from Baylor and married Lena Kirk.
Daniel gained an appointment by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He became a missionary to Brazil. He then served as pastor over several Baptist churches and worked with Brazilian Baptist which was a newspaper. He stayed in Brazil until 1889 when he was forced back to the US because of the medical care offered in the states versus what was offered in Brazil.
Charles would later go on to work in Cuba but would be forced to return to the states once again due to failing health. From 1906 until 1922, Charles traveled around the state of Texas carrying out mission work. Charles Davis Daniel died in Waco in 1939.
