He was born in 1880 in a time where America was set to receive heroes. He would become one. Douglas MacArthur would become an American General in the army. He would hold various positions and posts to become one of the most recognized men of his era and he would go on to fight in various wars.
Douglas MacArthur fought in three major wars. While many men would only see one or maybe two wars, MacArthur was there for three. He was in World War I, World War II and the Korean War.
MacArthur served in various capacities while he was in the service. He was Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army during the thirties and he held a prominent position while serving in World War II. His expertise would prove beneficial while his courage would serve as instrumental in motivating others around him.
Douglas MacArthur received the Medal of Honor. The coveted recognition was well deserved. MacArthur became one of many who saw the "Occupation of Japan" from 1945 until 1951.
MacArthur would later encourage democratic changes. He would bring forth ideas that would prove very instrumental in supporting democratic change.
In 1950, it was Douglas MacArthur who would lead the United Nations Command Forces to defend South Korea. His leadership was extraordinary. However, it would be followed with his removal from command.
In 1951, Douglas MacArthur publicly disagreed with Truman’s Korean War Policy. President Harry S. Truman removed MacArthur from command in April of that year. Still, he will be remembered for his role in three major wars and for winning a Medal of Honor.
