He would become the politician that everyone loved to provide wise cracks about but the fact would remain, he was the President of the United States. He would be talked about on late night television shows like Jay Leno or David Letterman’s shows but he would still remain the President of the United States. George W. Bush, the oldest son of the former U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush became the 43rd President of the United States of America and he’s faired well considering the elements against him.

George W. Bush took the presidential office by winning by one electoral vote in the 2000 election. However, he lost the popular vote. Still, that one electoral vote placed George W. Bush in the White House.

Some would begin to doubt his ability right away while the Republicans would rally around him to support the seated president. However, there would be cause to worry. George W. Bush, after all, had seemingly lived a somewhat tainted life for one who wanted to hold the reins to America.

George W. Bush was born in 1946. He openly admitted to basically having a good time in his "youth" but those days carried him well into his thirties. In 1976, he was arrested for driving under the influence and his use with substances has never been denied.

George W. Bush bought interest in the Texas Rangers baseball team for less than a million dollars. Active in his family’s oil business, Bush wasn’t able to secure a seat in the House of Representatives in 1978. However he was able to be voted in as the eventual governor of the state.

Before he took the reins as governor, George sold his interest in the Texas Rangers and pocketed a sweet fifteen million in profits. He proved he could make a dollar but the concern was, could he run a state?

Texas saw George W. Bush step into office and take control of the prisons. Under his watch, many prisoners were executed. Perhaps it was his firm fist that would be needed in Washington and when Washington received him as President George W. Bush in 2000, it didn’t take long for Bush to be dubbed a "war president".

As president, there have been many memorable events. He signed a $1.35 trillion tax cut and many could debate if this was a wise move. In 2002, he became committed to the No Child Left Behind Act that he signed. Additionally, he has sent troops overseas to fight in the war that no one quite seems to know or remembered why it’s being fought. However, George W. Bush remembers. He was the sitting president when the events of September 11, 2001 wrecked havoc on The United States of America.
