Vasari knew Michelangelo and he was able to rub shoulders with some magnificent artists during his era.

In 1529, he traveled to Rome and it was there that he learned more about Raphael and other important artists from the Renaissance period. He developed a love for painting what was referred to as mannerist paintings. It would be those paintings that would help Vasari capture a following.
