She was born in 1976 to a military surgeon father and a mother who was a registered nurse. They lived in Germany for a few years when Laura Jean "Reese" was only a small child. When they moved back to the states, they called Nashville, Tennessee their home.

Reese began modeling at a young age. When she was only seven years old, she began doing some print campaigns as well as television commercials. Reese attended the prestigious Harpeth Hall Girls School in Nashville where she was able to gain a solid educational foundation that would later lead her to Stanford.

Witherspoon's first film debut was The Man in the Moon. She would go on to have roles in Jack to Bear and A Far Off Place. She was also the voice of Greta Wolfecastle in The Simpsons.

Reese Witherspoon would enter Stanford to major in English literature. However, she wouldn't stay because Hollywood "came knocking" pedaling large film deals. Fear and Freeway weren't huge box office money-makers but she was able to play opposite big names in the industry. She was aligned with mega stars in the industry and her name was about to become very recognizable in California and across the world.

Witherspoon secured parts in Pleasantville in 1998, Election in 1999 and Cruel Intentions in 1999. Then, she hit the big leagues with the box office hit Legally Blonde. The role led to another huge hit with Sweet Home Alabama and Witherspoon's success placed her in the realm among the highest paid female actresses.

On a personal note, Reese Witherspoon is currently divorced. She has two children with her first husband Ryan Phillippe. Today, she is one of the most recognized and one of the most well respected Hollywood female film actresses.
